China, circa 1960

A set of two 20th century Yixing teapots, a traditional stoneware from the Jiangsu Provence that has been used for pottery since the Song Dynasty. The set is comprised of one red clay pot and one blue clay pot, all have unglazed surfaces so that the vessels absorb trace flavours of the tea to create a more complex flavour to your drink upon every use. For this reason, connoisseurs use each pot to brew a single kind of tea, most commonly black and oolong teas, and only clean them with water.
